We’re back with an all new, action packed episode of the podcast, and my god do we cover a lot of ground on this one.
However, despite having a lot to get to, Brad and Sean open with a solid 15 minute discussion of everybody’s least favorite topic: fantasy sports.
Brad tells the story of how he not only got roped into being his home league’s commissioner (ensnaring Sean in his web in the process), but also is allowing himself to get opened up publicly by joining the Go Off Kings’ fantasy league. This is all while he was trying to leave the game behind this year. Sean also chimes in to remind Brad that at least it isn’t fantasy hockey.
With that garbage out of the way, the two finally get to some meaningful garbage in the form of the films Triangle, Shin Kamen Rider, the Jack Reacher book series, and an extended discussion of the Rory Calhoun vehicle Avenging Angel.
Brad recommends two new jazz albums, as is tradition at this point, before they get into a lengthy discussion/eulogy of wrestling legend Terry Funk.
Brad discusses his incredible 1984 album Great Texan, as well as his beat down of Florida enhancement talent Bruce Walkup and Sean recounts his recent experience watching Funk in the Stallone classic Over the Top.
The main event of the show is Brad’s pick: the 1982 Sogo Ishii cyberpunk (?) classic Burst City. This is a truly wild film free of the normal strictures of filmmaking like plot, character building, and coherency, but it does have a 20 minute brawl to close it out, so you can guess how it was received by the hosts.
Finally, we close with the inaugural edition of Rank Crime, we’re Sean and Brad rank the discontinued fast food items listed on an Eat This, Not That listicle.
It’s a massive show with something for everyone (not really). Enjoy?
